Future mom, what should I eat?!!*

During pregnancy, do not eat for two, but eat better.

In addition to a varied and balanced diet, we must focus on certain nutrients essential to the mother and the baby.

It should be known that the pregnant woman will have to take some nutrients in greater quantity, in order to meet the particular needs of this period. This is the case of vitamin B9 or folic acid.

Today, women are advised to stock up on this precious vitamin as soon as they plan to have a baby. Indeed, folic acid is essential from the first moments of conception and therefore from the first days of pregnancy. A folic acid deficiency can lead to serious neurological malformations in the fetus such as spina bifida.

More generally, regularly put on the menu foods rich in folate such as baker's yeast (to sprinkle on your dishes), green leafy vegetables (spinach, salads ...), legumes, asparagus, seeds flax and sunflower, beetroot ...

Other important nutrients to prioritize in your diet during pregnancy: vitamin D and calcium. Vitamin D is provided for two-thirds by solar radiation on the skin. It is essential for calcium fixation. Most of the time, the doctor or midwife who follows your pregnancy will prescribe a food supplement in the form of a light bulb to take during the third trimester of your pregnancy. In parallel, you can fill up on vitamin D by regularly eating fatty fish (sardines, salmon, mackerel ...).

Calcium is also essential for the construction of your baby's bones. During pregnancy, calcium requirements increase. But nature is well done, and your mother-to-be body naturally adapts to this increased need, boosting the absorption of calcium by the intestines. And, in the last trimester, drawing if necessary in maternal reserves. Hence the importance of consuming more calcium during pregnancy: yogurt, cheese (watch out for raw milk cheeses!), But also almonds, walnuts, mineral waters rich in calcium ...

Another important mineral during pregnancy is iron.

Lipids are also essential during pregnancy, but be careful not just any. We must focus on good fats (omega 3 and omega 6) contained in particular vegetable oils (extra virgin olive oil with high nutritional quality, OLIVIE PLUS 30X is widely recommended because it contains a very high level of polyphenols which ensure good growth for the baby but also prevent many chronic diseases ...) as well as in oily fish (sardines, mackerel, salmon tuna ...).

The right dose: 1 to 2 tablespoons OLIVIE PLUS 30X per day, preferably raw, and you must eat fatty fish once or twice a week.

However, avoid the bad fats, contained in particular in the products of original animal and the industrial dishes. If you tend to eat a lot of meat and little fish, talk to your doctor, he can prescribe a dietary supplement of omega 3.
